Interesting Voices

Check out these THREE INTERESTING VOICES:
Gabby - Emily - Abe

1. Oh Vile Gentleman

Oh vile gentleman with smallish blue eyes
And hair the color of rusted copper
I cannot bear your smile, your wink, and your lies
That you wrongly deem the behavior proper.

You chase me when I want you not
And run from me when I do.
Whenever I look onto you, I feel as if my heart has been shot
Or has fluttered out of my chest and found the bottom of your shoe.

You sweetly smile at me and kiss my hand
You treat me as if you love me like I love you
But the love I feel is as wide as the sand
And I know by tomorrow your kiss will be on another’s hand, without any regard for little Gabby Lyew.

Your teasing affection replays in my mind and your soothing words hum in my ears
I will hate you for as long as I love you,
which inevitably will last for years and years.

- Gabby LyewKong

2. unfixed (a rondel)
if i had a soul, you would be its mate.
(because, to date, you have not shied away
from the misshapen edges that line the way)
i'd thank God, but probably it's fate.

since i cannot love, i doubt that i may hate.
(my emotions have not colors, only gray)
if i had a soul, you would be its mate
because, to date, you have not shied away.

though loneliness is such a rotten state,
i refused to keep the shadows at bay
for fear i'd forget a difference from the day.
(you took the rains and forever made them late)
if i had a soul, you would be its mate
because, to date, you have not shied away.
-Emily Simpson

3. The Secret Journals of Cheewy
Is there something unattractive about the name Cheewy?
Is there a reason why the damsels we save never notice my mane?
Does all my hair and my teeth make them go “Eeewy”?
Out in space they hate me but back home my lovely locks are my claim to fame.

On the ship it’s generally just me and Hans Solo
Cruising the universe and rescuing babes
When we get them on board we always look better than Apollo
Hans is such a pig, he’s just looking to get laid

This one princess named Laya I will never forget
She was royalty paired with a great big goof
Letting her get away was my biggest regret
One day I’ll marry her and murder Luke

Hans got Laya because he’s a weasel and I’m just too slow
Even when she tells him “I love you” all he can say is “ I know”

THE TOP SIX ARE IN - VOTE FOR YOUR FAVE

This was rough. I thought this was going to be easy, but I was wrong. I think I have it narrowed down to six. Though I could probably honor at least ten. Please read through the following six poems and vote for your fave. They are all great, and I enjoyed reading ALL OF THE POEMS. Let's vote!!! Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the poll and vote for one. Thanks!

1. Colours in Motion

Colours in motion like thoughts.
Blue bangles break the silence,
Teal taxis shatter silver ice puddles,
The essence of sandalwood wafts through the cruiser.

A Flash of fuchsia,
And there she is.
Blood pumps like racing rubies.

Heart-beat, heart-beat, heart-beat…
Always ascher, never pear cut…
Heart-beat, heart-beat, heart-beat…
Give her rose quartz, red velvet cushions, maybe something blue…
What comes in the horizon?

II
His black eyes pierce the window.
I wonder if his heart is that way too.
This one man may show his love to be,
Hopefully.

It feels as if a kilo of anxiety is upon my shoulders.

Heart-beat, heart-beat, heart-beat…

Colours, colours, colours…

This is the true Romeo and Juliet.

This is blind love.

2.Amor Vincit Omnia

Like Pearl Harbor it came,
A surprising burst of emotion, tangerine joy,
Her hair, haute chocolate,
Laugh like luminous moons,
Bright, lively, racing rubies in me.

What voodoo broke me of the spell?
What got me out of that paradiso inferno, that Hell?
It seems so obvious now, like Fujiyama,
Or silver ice on the ground.
Essential heart beat.

Life and joy are contradictions without her.
Not a one man show anymore.
Every cliché proven right,
I get those songs now,
All that live jazz and… yeah.

3.Deception

The mermaid's chest fluttered with fear
As the essence of Calvin Klein came too near
The dark coolwater motioned her in
as she was blinded by his aqua chrome fin

Mighty mauve were her cheeks when he entered the room
It was Romeo and Juliet under the luminous moon
She described his lips as a red velvet touch
His Ferrari black hair, it was just too much

As he taxied by her heartbeat flew
oblivion took over as he worked his voodoo
Always say no, her friends would mention
He was a one man show, no contradiction

Sitting in a corner in the black cafe,
just thinking and picking at her peach parfait,
Still recovering from last nights kiss
something blue came to mind, he was so missed

Then through the dark lights she saw something new
The silver ice hair accompanied by who?
Lost in his chapel of love he reached for her face
Over the sandalwood table in which they both embraced

A flash of fuscia surfaced her skin
diesel fuel flew through her, spreading her thin
She stood up making fists walking towards the couple
They'll think I’m only a waitress and won't cause any trouble

The fight in her head raged as she threw the water
messing up the room as if it were Pearl Harbor
She re-loaded the gun and let him have it again,

She would be mad for today,
But tomorrow she would give in...

4.Desire...

Desire.
Symptoms: racing heartbeat, sweaty palms, nervousness.
Nothing feels quite right.
All is black and time is of the essence.
The world around you seems to be in motion while you stand still. You become unconscious of the wild things racing around you, while your mind focuses in on this insane aqua chrome horizon far off in the distance.
You stand in a trance.
Some sort of voodoo like state. And then…
the dark lights approach,
The reality of the situation becomes intense.
Tense like silver ice unable to crack.
You need a reload…
Something that will lead to recovery.
You think…
maybe coolwater splashed upon the heated sweat on your face..
Or maybe….
Ambition.
It acts as diesel fuel to any type of drive.
This ambition is essential.
It’s the flash of fuchsia in the dark room.
It’s the silver lining.
It all it comes down to this one moment . This one shot.
So for now you can look ahead to the luminous moon or
you can leave it all behind with more then a kilo worth of regret.

5. A Luminous Moon
A man took a taxi to the fortune teller under
a luminous moon. He was searching for someone or
something to recover his love life. He was tired of the
one man show. He decided the time had come to find
his pink diamond, his peach parfait, someone to share a
heartbeat with, and tie his ship up at her pearl harbor.
He strutted up to the door, the night was ferrari black.

She hurried him in the house, her red, sequin slippers
scurrying like racing rubies. She stated her name
and said she didn't have much time. The man cut to the
chase, said he was tired of all the jazz. He said he
was ready to trade his wild thing past for his sterling
silver rose. She immediately responded with a confident
"yes," and said she could feel something great on the horizon.

Setting up Romeo with Juliet was her expertise,
and she could surely get his love life in motion.
She got up swiftly, and excused herself momentarily.
She yelled from behind the wall, "this place is practically a chapel of love."
He was pondering his life in the future when she returned
with a large crystal ball. The ball was truly magical; it
never told a lie. The images in the rose quartz always gave the answer.

Without further delay, the woman began the process.
She rinsed her hands in a bowl of coolwater and cradled
the ball with intense concentration.
There was a blinding flash of fuschia which startled the two.
After regaining their vision, the woman gazed into the ball.
It was still changing, the color settled on blue. The man, confused,
asked "What is it?" She was shocked to concede, "It's me and you."

6.Like Johnny and June
Like Johnny and June
Staring high luminous moon,
Something blue, she always wears blue
Hit with voodoo, she stands under the dark lights
Heartbeat scurries in constant motion
Beat in beat out, lock and load, reload
Scared outta my mind
"She thinks I'm only a runner!"
"Is this real?"
"Is this taxi really taking us to the cafe?"
Was the boquet enough
One dozen red velvet roses...
Oh God she looks great in blue
She looks great in anything
Please be my wild thing
Love her, know it, don't feel wrong
I'm so stupid she can't feel this strong!
What if I never see her again...?

Oh God I hope he likes blue
I heard he likes black
The ferrari black suit and tie proves it
Hugo Boss I think
Johnny Cash, June Carter
The black and the blue,
modern day Romeo and Juliet
What if he isn't this serious?
Just two people passing in motion
What if this isn't some book
With ten kids and sterling silver rose
Ready for the couple at happy end?
I'm so stupid. he can't think I'm pretty
"He thinks I'm only a brain!"
What if I never see him again...?

Please God let her like the roses
Please God let him like blue

Please God let her love me
Please God let him love me

Hypnopaedic Creation - Brave New World

HYPNOPAEDIA: Hypnopædia is used throughout the novel to condition children into certain societal standards, predetermined for their apparent benefit. By November 21st, you will need to use movie maker, photo story, or animoto to compose your piece of hypnopaedia. It need only be one statement. It need not be more than a minute, but you must post it on your blog and write a paragraph explaining its powerful suggestion. If you would rather simply use a crude collage method of glue, scissors, paper, crayons, marker etc. That is fine. Just photograph your collage with a digital camera and make sure you post it to your blog. Please have this posted to your blog by November 21st, 2008. Please do your best to make sure yours is original. Here are a few from the novel to get your gears turning.

"Everyone belongs to everyone else."
"A gram is better than a damn."
"When the individual feels, the community reels."
"Particulars make for virtue and happiness; generalities are intellectually necessary evils. Not philosophers but fretsawyers and stamp collectors compose the backbone of society."
"Never put off till tomorrow the fun you can have today."
"We always throw away old clothes. Ending is better than mending."
"The more stitches, the less riches."
"History is bunk."

Or simply consider the words on the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre -the World State's Motto:
